Job Description:
P&C Technician with at least 1 year of experience is
responsible for the maintenance, testing, and troubleshooting of
electrical protection and control systems. They work in industries
like power generation and distribution to ensure the safe and
efficient operation of electrical equipment. Key Responsibilities:
System Maintenance: Perform routine maintenance and inspections of
protection and control systems to ensure their functionality and
reliability. Testing and Calibration : Conduct tests, calibrations,
and functional checks on protective relays, circuit breakers, and
other control devices to verify their performance. Troubleshooting
: Diagnose and resolve issues and faults within protection and
control systems. Conduct advanced troubleshooting and root cause
analysis. Device Configuration: Configure and program protective
relays and control devices as needed, ensuring they are set up to
protect electrical equipment and respond to faults appropriately.
Protection Relay Coordination : Participate in relay coordination
studies to ensure that protective relays operate as intended during
faults while minimizing unnecessary trips. Data Analysis : Analyze
data from protection systems to identify trends, abnormalities, and
potential issues. Utilize advanced analysis tools and software.
System Upgrades : Assist in the planning and implementation of
upgrades and modernization projects for protection and control
systems. Safety Compliance : Ensure that protection and control
systems comply with safety standards and regulations. Implement
safety interlocks and emergency shutdown systems. Documentation :
Maintain detailed records of maintenance, testing, and
troubleshooting activities. Update and create technical
documentation as needed. Collaboration : Work closely with other
technicians, engineers, and operational staff to ensure the
effective and efficient operation of electrical systems.
Qualifications : Associate's or bachelor's degree in electrical
engineering or a related field is typically preferred. at least 1
year of experience in maintaining and testing electrical protection
and control systems, preferably in industries like power generation
and distribution. Proficiency in using advanced testing equipment,
including relay test sets and oscilloscopes. Strong knowledge of
protective relays, circuit breakers, and control systems.
Understanding of electrical safety practices and standards.
Familiarity with relay coordination principles and software tools.
Advanced troubleshooting and problem-solving skills. Excellent
communication and teamwork skills. A P&C Technician with at
least 1 year of experience plays a critical role in ensuring the
reliability and safety of electrical systems by maintaining and
testing protection and control systems. Their expertise is
essential for the efficient operation of electrical equipment,
particularly in industries where electrical power quality and
safety are paramount Required PPE for this assignment: - Clothing
must be FR or made of 100 percent natural fibers . When entering
energized transformer vaults and manholes the most outer layer of
clothing must be FR. FR jumpsuit/coverall is permissible. - Example
of 100% natural fibers are cotton, wool, and leather. As an
additional precaution avoid wearing loose-fitting clothes that may
get entangled in moving machinery. - Work shoes w/steel or
composite toed. Work shoes must comply with ASTM 2413 standards. -
Hardhat, Safety glasses, work gloves, at least Class 2 Safety Vest.
JSG will furnish basic PPE including hard hat, vest, safety glasses
and work gloves. Employee will supply his/her own boots and fire
retardant clothing. Some driving is required
