Minimum Qualifications
Requires technical knowledge in the field acquired through an
apprenticeship, a 2-year degree, or professional certificate.

Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor's in natural resources science, MS in ecology, wildlife
ecology, natural resource/wildlife management, or a related field.
Previous quail working experience is desirable.
Position Summary
The Gamebird and Managed Ecosystems (GAME) Lab is seeking a
Research Professional to serve as a project leader on a Northern
Bobwhite project near Andrews, South Carolina. The project will
examine bobwhite ecology in the context of cattle grazing and fire
management. The successful incumbent will work with property staff
to coordinate research activities. This incumbent will hire, train,
and supervise seasonal field technicians. Work will involve quail
trapping and radio-tagging, tracking birds via radio telemetry,
vegetation surveys, data entry and management, and other duties as
assigned. This position will involve working non-typical hours,
with morning and nighttime work needed at different times of the
year. Shared field vehicles and field housing will be provided for
project leader and field technician - keeping them clean is part of
the job responsibilities for all field researchers. The successful
incumbent will work closely with property management and
collaborating scientists.
This position is currently grant-funded through June 2026, with the
possibility of renewal depending on future funding
availability.
