The Library IT department works collaboratively with all Library
service areas to provide Web Services, Application Development, and
IT infrastructure support. The multi-unit team is responsible for
managing the Library's online presence and strategy, creating and
managing business applications, providing technology support for
Library employees, analyzing and improving IT service delivery and
managing IT-specific projects using AGILE methodology.The Systems
Support Engineer Sr is responsible for Library IT infrastructure
management based on the needs of existing and planned applications
in a DevOps team environment. This position provides advanced
planning, development, documentation, problem resolution and
support in the installation, maintenance, and security of computing
systems and applications in a multi-tiered, distributed server
environment at the Georgia Tech Library.
Job Summary
Engineers design, develop, and implement Information Technology
solutions to meet business requirements and technical
specifications. They collaborate with cross-functional teams,
troubleshoot technical issues, and optimize Information Technology
systems and networks for performance and scalability.
Responsibilities
Job Duty 1 -
Design, develop, implement, and maintain Information Technology
systems, applications, and infrastructure to meet business
requirements.
Job Duty 2 -
Configure, deploy, and troubleshoot Information Technology systems,
networks, and software to ensure reliable and efficient
operations.
Job Duty 3 -
Conduct system analysis, performance tuning, and optimization to
enhance the performance and scalability of Information Technology
systems.
Job Duty 4 -
Test and evaluate Information Technology solutions, perform quality
assurance checks, and ensure compliance with technical
standards.
Job Duty 5 -
Provide technical support, assistance, and training to end-users,
Information Technology teams, and stakeholders as needed.
Job Duty 6 -
Stay current on Information Technology trends, technologies, and
best practices to drive innovation and continuous improvement.
Job Duty 7 -
Document system configurations, technical specifications, and
implementation procedures for Information Technology solutions.
Job Duty 8 -
Collaborate with stakeholders to define technical requirements,
specifications, and project scope for Information Technology
solutions.Job Duty 9 -
Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including architects,
developers, and project managers, to deliver integrated Information
Technology solutions.Job Duty 10 -
Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
Educational Requirements
Bachelor's Degree in related discipline or equivalent combination
of education and experience.
Required Experience
Six or more years of relevant experience.
Preferred Qualifications
Advanced knowledge of and experience with RedHat Linux (Fedora),
Windows Server 2019+
Cloud, virtualization environments and concepts - VMware 7 (ESXi,
vSphere)
Monitoring suites such as Zabbix or similar (SolarWinds,
Nagios)
Advanced knowledge of and ability to support RDBMS deployments
(MariaDB, PostgreSQL, MsSQL)
Fluency in one or more programming and/or scripting languages such
as Shell, Python, Ruby, PHP
Configuration management and performance tuning of App/Web tier
(Apache, NGINX, Tomcat, IIS)
IT automation configuration management and deployment (e.g. Salt
Stack or similar technologies)
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
SKILLS
o Performs all the standard and technical aspects of the job
o Applies in-depth professional, technical, or industry knowledge
to manage significantly complex
assignments/projects/programs
