FiberLight is seeking a skilled, motivated, and customer-focused
Field Service Technician to join our team. In this role, you will
be the face of our company, providing on-site support to clients by
installing, troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining FiberLight
services and equipment. The ideal candidate thrives in a
fast-paced, hands-on environment and is dedicated to delivering
excellent service to ensure network availability and client
satisfaction. Essential Job Functions Installation & Commissioning:
Install, configure, and commission new equipment at customer sites
and FiberLight network locations, ensuring adherence to technical
specifications, safety standards, and performance benchmarks.
Scheduled Maintenance: Perform scheduled maintenance activities in
support of customer and/or network upgrades, reconfigurations, and
fault mitigation. Troubleshooting & Repair: Perform fault isolation
and repair on services and network backbone utilizing various
pieces of test equipment and coordination with NOC and OSP/Splicing
resources. Customer Support: Provide exceptional customer service
by addressing and interfacing with the local customer contact on
orders and tickets. Documentation & Reporting: Meticulously
document all service activities, including installation,
maintenance, repairs, and parts usage, using SiteTracker. Inventory
Management: Manage inventory for consumables, emergency spare
parts, and tools located within the company vehicle and at local
ISP storage locations. On-Call/Emergency Dispatch : On a rotating
schedule, responsible for dispatching for scheduled
maintenance/installation or NOC-driven outage/impairment tickets
after hours in a 24x7 environment. Requirements: High school
Diploma or equivalent required Bachelor’s Degree preferred Valid
driver’s license 3 years’ experience in the communications or
telecom field Hands-on experience with the installation of
electronic communication equipment Hands-on experience operating
related test equipment Dependable more reliable than spontaneous
People-oriented enjoys interacting with people and working on group
projects Achievement-oriented enjoys taking on challenges, even if
they might fail Detail-oriented would rather focus on the details
of work than the bigger picture Physical Requirements Must be able
to sit, stand, walk, stoop, kneel and reach Must be able to drive a
motor vehicle Must be able to speak, write, read and understand
English Must have visual acuity Must be able to lift 0-25
pounds
