Registered Nurse (RN) | Med/Surg / Telemetry Location: Macon, GA Agency: TalentBurst, Inc. Pay: $1,898 to $1,970 per week Shift Information: Nights - 3 days x 12 hours Start Date: 3/23/2026 About the Position TravelNurseSource is working with TalentBurst, Inc. to find a qualified Med/Surg / Tele RN in Macon, Georgia, 31201! JOB DESCRIPTION RN - MedSurg/Tele About Facility: 637 Licensed Beds Level 1 Trauma Designation Teaching Hospital Chest Pain Center Stroke Center Unit Information: Beds: 16 Avg Census – 16 patients Minimum Years of Experience required? 2 years – Med/Tele RN experience Will you accept a first-time traveler? Yes Patient Types/Common Diagnoses: Chest pain, syncope/vomiting, abdominal pain, cellulitis, COPD exacerbation, heart failure observation, dehydration, hypertension, diabetes, POD1 requiring hospital stay overnight, simple trauma, MVC, fall Waiting an Inpatient Room for admission (used to decompress the ER) Patient Ratios: RN: 1:4-6 Required License, National Certification, Certs (BLS, ACLS, etc.), or other position specific requirements: RN License (Associate's degree at a minimum) BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS required BCR (Basic Cardiac Rhythm) – test completed during onboarding Skills required: Trach care, chest tube management, PIV starts, glucommander, insulin drips, heparin drips, drips to titrate to HR NOT BP Strong clinical assessment and time management IV insertion and maintenance skills Cardiac monitoring and interpretation Care coordination with interdisciplinary teams Discharge planning knowledge and patient education Support within the Department: CNA: assist with VS, glucose checks, baths, feeding, ambulating patients, assisting turning patients, hourly rounding, transporting patients as needed; obtain blood from blood bank Unit secretary on unit 7a-11p; then house wide call secretary 11p-7a Charge nurse – may or may not have patient assignment Phlebotomy: Most units are lab collect phlebotomy; nurses drawn from CVLs No IV team- do have a PICC team Resource Nurse? Yes, we have discharge nurses and Resource team floats to all units RT 24/7 Hospitalist 24/7 Intensivist 24/7 Central Telemetry Unit Technology/Equipment: EMR: EPIC IV Pump: Alaris Med dispensing: Pyxis Monitors: Phillips Unit specific equipment: VS3 vital sign monitors, Nova Glucose Stat Strips, Cardiac Telemetry monitoring, portable vital signs monitors (Dynamapp), bladder scanners, IV pump, portable oxygen system, glucommander, PCA pain management, suction machine Floating: All adult med surg / telemetry units in house Orientation: 1 day facility orientation, 2 days departmental Scheduling: Weekend rotation: 5-6 weekend shifts out of 12 (on a 6-week schedule) On call: No Holiday Expectations: work one shift of each major holiday (Thanksgiving Day or day after 12/24 or 12/25 12/31 or 1/1) RTO Requests: Manager approval Shift times: 12-hour shifts 7A-7P or 7P-7A Schedule cycle: every 6 weeks Other notes: Scrub Color: RN- Navy; LPN- Ceil Blue Parking: Free parking around campus or paid parking decks Unit Culture: busy but team-oriented Unit will bed patients from ER waiting on inpatient admission High turnover of patients 5 Benefits of Travel Nursing Adapting to new facilities and teams challenges your problem-solving skills.
